Ordinary talk about things that matter

I’m Thomas Krabben, a Danish civil engineer with more than forty years behind me in industry, shipping, banking, education and IT. Today I run a university computer lab, study IT security, and, for the joy of it, Classical Greek.

I have spent most of my life in capital cities, but my heart has always been in the countryside. For years I farmed wheat, barley and grass seed, with International Harvester and Case tractors, a Claas combine and a stable with its own riding arena. The farm has since found a new life as one of Denmark’s largest wine producers. Farming taught me more about cause and effect than any spreadsheet.

This site is where I step back and look at the bigger picture: what new technology, economic shifts, history and culture mean for ordinary people and families, in Denmark and across Europe. I don’t take political sides. I try to show the numbers, the different views and the questions that remain open, and to leave the conclusions to you.

The views here are my own.
